Linda Keith: Birth, Parents, Siblings & Education

Linda Keith was born in 1946 in West Hampstead, London, to Alan Keith and Pearl Rubeck.

Sir Brian Keith, her elder brother, was appointed to the English and Welsh High Court in 2001.

There is no information on her educational background or qualifications, but she was exposed to music at a young age, possibly through her father.

Keith met a musician at a party when he was 18 and began dating him soon after. She went on to work as a model, primarily for hats. She was discovered while delivering mail at Vogue House in her late teens.

Linda Keith became culturally connected in the early days of “Swinging London” in the mid-1960s.

She was at the heart of a West Hampstead bohemian community that included influential artists, singer-songwriters, and fashion personalities, along with her best friend Shiela Klein.

Linda Keith: Relationship Status

Keith Richards, the guitarist for the English rock band the Rolling Stones, was Linda Keith’s first known boyfriend. They met at a party when her best friend, Sheila Klein, who was dating the Stones’ manager, Andrew Oldham, encouraged her to approach Richards, who was rather quiet.

The two became romantically involved after bonding over a shared love of blues music. She eventually began accompanying the band on their US tours, where she met Jimi Hendrix.

Keith had a brief encounter with another guy named Paul Ernest while dating Richards, who contributed to a West Hampstead Life column about her.

After introducing Hendrix to the public eye and returning to London, she began dating Brian Jones, the founder and original leader of the Rolling Stones.

She married English music producer John Porter in 1983.

Linda Keith: Meeting with Jimi Hendrix

Linda Keith went to The Cheetah Club in New York with some of her friends during one of the Rolling Stones’ US tours in May 1966, where she saw a raw Jimi Hendrix perform.

She was immediately taken in and invited him to their table after his performance. Hendrix was in a band at the time, so the two had private discussions about a possible solo career.

Keith reasoned that such talent deserved to be seen by the rest of the world, and he believed she could make the necessary connections.

Determined to make a star out of the unknown guitarist, she worked hard not only to get him noticed but also to secure a recording contract.

She first met with Oldham, and then with Seymour Stein, the man who discovered the queen of pop, but neither meeting went well.

Linda then invited Chas Chandler, the Animals’ guitarist-turned-manager, to see Hendrix perform Hey Joe, and he was won over. He eventually assisted him in his career.

Unfortunately, once Hendrix had achieved success, his management and others around him assisted him in removing Keith from his life, citing her as a negative influence on his music.

Linda Keith: Addiction to Drugs

Keith Richard is said to have introduced Linda Keith to drugs, and she later developed an addiction to them, particularly acid and cocaine.

Her addiction to and continued use of these drugs, combined with her association with Hendrix, put a strain on their relationship, eventually leading to their breakup in 1966.

While Hendrix was climbing the fame ladder, Keith was heavily into drugs and became somewhat of a junkie.

This prompted Richards to notify her father that his daughter was in trouble, prompting the older Keith to travel to America to bring her home.

Keith was made a ward of the court upon his return to the UK. She made headlines in 1968 after a drug overdose in Brian Jones’ apartment.

She spent most of her life at 81 Cholmley Gardens, where her parents lived until her father died in 2003.
