Dereck Chisora was born on December 29, 1983, in Mbare, Harare, Zimbabwe.

He was born in Zimbabwe to Zimbabwean parents, Paul and Viola Chisora. Dereck had an unstable childhood because his parents divorced when he was four years old, leaving him in the care of his grandparents, Phyllis Masarakufa and Angelo De Souza.

Dereck, on the other hand, was not a sportsman from childhood; he worked as a paramedic in high school and graduated from Churchill Boarding School.

Dereck traveled to England with his mother when he was sixteen years old.

The child was living with his mother in Finchley, London when he arrived. There he saw an opportunity to pursue his boxing career, for which he has gained fame.

It didn’t take long for the fighter to master the fundamentals and begin his amateur boxing career.

Dereck Chisora: Professional Development

Chisora began his professional career in February 2007 with a fight against Hungarian boxer Istvan Kecskes.

He went on to win his next three fights after knocking out Istvan. He also defeated notable opponents such as Sam Sexton, Shawn Mclean, and Lee Swaby. In his first two years as a professional, he had an 8 – 0 record.

He continued to make waves in his career, defeating Paul Butlin and two more fighters in 2009 before challenging Danny Williams for the title in 2010.

Dereck defeated Williams to become the British Heavyweight champion in May 2010.

In September 2010, he won a total knockout against Sam Sexton to clinch the Commonwealth heavyweight championship title.

Prior to beginning his boxing career, the star relocated to the United Kingdom to live with his mother.

He hasn’t revealed much about his parents and family, so he could be their only child.

Meanwhile, his mother has taken on an important role as one of Dereck’s managers.
