Mario Cristobal’s Professional Career
Mario Cristobal began his professional career as an undrafted free agent in 1994 when he signed a free-agent deal with the Denver Broncos.
In 1995 and 1996, he played with the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe. Following that, he began his coaching career in 1998 as a graduate assistant under Butch Davis, where he remained until 2000.
In 2001, he was hired as the tight ends and offensive line coach at Rutgers University by Greg Schiano, and he coached for three seasons under Larry Coker from 2004 to 2006.
Mario began working at Florida International University in 2006 and stayed for nearly six years. FIU Athletic Director Pete Garcia fired him in 2012.
In January 2013, he was hired by Miami as an associate head coach and tight ends coach.
After that, Mario Cristobal joined Willie Taggart’s staff at Oregon as an offensive line coach in January 2017 and stayed for five years.
