Dan, the 2014 Ulster Superbike Champion, hails from a motorcycle family; his brother, father “Richard,” and four uncles are all well-known motorcycle aficionados and riders.

When he wasn’t racing superbikes, Dan Richard Kneen worked as a plumber. Dan was driven to win the TT despite numerous injuries, including fractured ribs, ankles, and multiple broken bones, and met a horrible end during the 2018 qualifying lap.

In 2009, Kneen, a Manx racer, finished fourth in the Metzeler National Superstock 600CC Championship and third in the British Supersport Cup.

Despite suffering injuries in a testing accident at Jurby, Isle of Man, and missing the first half of the season as a result, he gained a respectable 8 points, with the best finish of fourth place at Brands Hatch.

Dan was a regular podium finisher at road racing events in Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man TT, having won the Ulster Grand Prix Superstock in 2014. Kneen won the Tandragee 100 Superbike after finishing third in the 2017 TT Superstock event and setting a lap record.

Dan Kneen was killed on May 30, 2018, during the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Superbike qualifying practice.

On his first lap of the 37-mile Mountain Course, Dan, the Superbike Rider, crashed near Churchtown.

Kneen died on the spot, and firefighters were called to the scene after a nearby tree caught fire.

The SuperBike qualifying sessions for the Isle of Man TT were red-flagged and canceled after 7 p.m. following the terrible death of Dan.

When a race automobile collided with another bike, another accident happened.
