After impressing Roar scouts with his technique against Redlands United and a Gold Coast Select XI at the end of May, he was signed to a two-year deal by Queensland Roar (now known as Brisbane Roar) on June 16, 2008.

Van Dijk had a poor start to the season, scoring one goal and assisting six times in his first ten appearances. He silenced the detractors, though, by scoring nine goals in as many games (including a brace against the Central Coast Mariners). On January 17, 2009, Van Dijk scored a hat-trick in the Roar’s 3–1 win over Sydney FC.

Van Dijk signed a six-month deal with Adelaide United for the club’s AFC Champions League campaign on 11 February 2010, and made his debut against the defending Asian champions, Pohang Steelers, in a 1–0 win at Hindmarsh Stadium on 24 February 2010.

He decided to return to Persib Bandung after being clubless and practicing with his former club FC Emmen. He was reunited with former Adelaide United colleague Marcos Flores. During the 2016–2017 season, he only played in four games due to an injury he sustained while playing for Persib Bandung.
