However, after graduating, they disbanded their band. Shawn and a friend started the band “Stellastarr” later that year, in March 2000.

On July 3, 2000, the band made their first public debut. In just three years, they became well-known in New York City and garnered a large following. They even performed at the Bowery Ballroom and the Mercury Lounge.

The band signed with RCA Records in May of 2003. They recorded three albums on the RCA label between 2003 and 2005, all of which were well-received around the world. They formally disbanded the band after the publication of their third album, “Civilized.”

Following his departure from the band, Shawn launched his filmmaking career. It all began in 2004, when he and his band were on tour in the United States with “The Killers.”

He wrote a script for the drama “Sidney Hall” with his friend Jason Polan. He later sent Paul Wesley the script and pitched it to Willian Morris Endeavor, who chose Shawn and Jason. They also worked together on the psychological thriller “Enter Nowhere” in the mid-2000s.

The session took less than a week to finish. The film made its international premiere at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival on January 28, 2012. The picture was named Best Live-Action Short Film at the Academy Awards.

Following the success of “Curfew,” Shawn became interested in short films. He collaborated on a feature-length adaptation of the popular film with his creative pal Damon Russell.
