Better known as Fujiko Fujio, a pen name he shared with his longtime artistic collaborator Hiroshi Fujimoto , this manga artist rose to fame for a Japanese comic book series called Doraemon and went on to produce other popular comics, including Obake no Q Taro and Magical Sahara. Motoo Abiko was born on March 10, 1934 in Japan. During their early years, he and Fujimoto were mentored by the famous Japanese manga artist Osamu Tezuka. He and Fujimoto published their first manga, Tenshi no Tama Chan, during their high school years.
