Shannan dialed 911 but was unable to provide a location because it was absolutely unfamiliar to her.

Shannan, according to Michael (her driver), was high on narcotics. 

She fled after acting like a lunatic for a while. Her driver attempted to locate her but was unable.

She remained unaccounted for until her mother attempted to reopen the investigation. 

When authorities were looking for her near Long Island, they discovered human remains on Gilgo Beach. 

Police discovered the remains of at least ten persons, most of whom were prostitutes.

The autopsy report was unable to determine the cause of her death, and the mystery remains unsolved.
