Browne moved to New York City in 1997, after attempting an acting career in Los Angeles, to work as a salesman at Armani.
Later, Club Monaco, then a Polo Ralph Lauren brand, chose him to manage its creative development team, where he collaborated with Ralph Lauren’s American fashion designer.
Browne was the creative director at Club Monaco for many years before creating the Thom Browne label.
Brooks Brothers announced their collaboration with Browne in September 2006 as part of a guest designer program for creating and distributing a 50-piece men’s and women’s high-end collection, Black Fleece by Brooks Brothers.
“Thom Browne’s amazing eye… he has the ability to predict the market and offer a special look,” said Claudio Del Vecchio, chairman, and chief executive officer of Brooks Brothers.
Beginning in September 2007, the brand was available exclusively in 30 Brooks Brothers locations worldwide.
