After being ill for several months, Allen was diagnosed with lung cancer in March. He initially informed me he had pneumonia, but he was eventually diagnosed with the most frequent type of lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer.

According to Dave Thomason, General Manager of WAFF 48,

“Allen was a favorite of the 48 Team.”

He went on,

“He valued hard work and enjoyed laughing with his coworkers.” They admired him for being genuine and compassionate.”

Allen revealed in August that his treatments did not proceed as planned. So, in July, a new round of medication was started as part of a research experiment.

Concerning his funeral, Allen’s family has not revealed any information on when or where he will be laid to rest.
