As a child, he desired to understand every aspect of technology in the hope of determining what he wanted to do with his life after college.

Apoorva worked in a few technology firms and even a steel factory before landing a job at one of the world’s largest e-commerce companies. It was during his stay here that he truly grasped what he desired to do with his life and set out to pursue it with zeal.

Though Apoorva’s entrepreneurial journey was not without setbacks, he has proven his mettle over the years and now owns one of the most successful same-day grocery delivery and pick-up service companies operating in the United States of America and Canada, with additional expansion opportunities. Apoorva Mehta: Professional Career

Apoorva Mehta then embarked on a journey of self-discovery, working in a variety of organizations until he discovered his true passion, at which point he took the first step into the next phase of his life.

Initially, he worked at Qualcomm as a design engineer, and then at Blackberry.

From there, he was hired as a Fulfillment Optimization SDE, or supply chain engineer, by e-commerce giant Amazon.com.

He worked on Amazon’s Fulfillment Engine, which expedites the delivery of packages from Amazon’s warehouses to customers’ doors.

Apoorva discovered what he truly enjoyed doing while working in this position; he enjoyed developing software and also enjoyed working in a challenging environment.

Mehta worked for Amazon for two years but found the work to be increasingly boring and repetitive, and thus resigned.

Following his departure from Amazon, Mehta began experimenting with self-employment.

During this time period, he attempted approximately 20 start-up ideas, all of which failed.

Among these failed start-ups is Groupon for food and LegaReach, a social networking site for lawyers.

All of these failed startups had one thing in common: Mehta was never truly invested in them or the problems they were attempting to solve. Nonetheless, he retained his poise and learned his lessons.

Soon afterward, in 2012, the concept of ordering groceries online and having them delivered occurred to him.

As Apoorva considered this concept further, he became convinced that it would be a profitable venture, given the fact that numerous businesses (start-ups) were operating online and achieving enormous success in providing one or more services.

Additionally, it was a time when people spent more time online on their mobile devices, developed a comfort level with online payments, and were always willing to experiment with new online services.

Apoorva Mehta founded Instacart in the San Francisco Bay Area the same year.

The company quickly expanded its coverage to 15 cities in 2014 and was visible in the North Chicago Zone, Orange County, and Minneapolis in 2016.

Apoorva has since expanded to cover additional states in the United States and Canada, employing over 300 full-time employees and thousands more as part-time grocery shoppers.
