Baba Rahman – Professional Career

In 2004, Rahman joined the Tamale-based Young Meteors youth club. He began his career in Ghana’s Division Two with Dreams FC in 2010.

He was then loaned to Asante Kotoko of the Ghanaian Premier League for one season in 2011, where he made 25 appearances.

In 2012, he joined Greuther Furth of the Bundesliga, where he played 44 games and scored two goals in two seasons.

He then spent one season with FC Augsburg, where he appeared in 31 games and made 108 tackles, more than any other player in the Bundesliga at the time.

On August 16, 2015, he signed a five-year contract with Chelsea for £14 million, with a possible raise to £22 million.

On September 16, 2015, he made his UEFA Champions League debut, playing the complete 90 minutes in a 4-0 home triumph over Maccabi Tel Aviv.

On October 17, 2015, he made his Premier League debut for the club in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.

On August 27, 2016, he made his league debut for the club in a 1-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt, replacing Sead Kolasinac in the 62nd minute.

On September 15, 2016, he scored his first goal for Schalke in a Europa League victory over OGC Nice. He made 15 appearances for Schalke on a season-long loan.

He returned to Schalke 04 on loan for the second time in January 2018, signing a deal for an 18-month period ending in the summer of 2019, during which time he made five appearances for the club.

He returned to Chelsea in early January 2019 and was immediately loaned out to Stade de Reims until the end of the season, where he appeared 11 times and scored one.

On September 2, 2019, he was loaned to Mallorca, a newly promoted La Liga club, for a season. During his stint with the club, he made five appearances.
