Bob McCreary’s Professional Career
McCreary was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the fifth round (65th overall) of the 1961 NFL Draft. He was discharged on September 4th.
On September 6, 1961, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys. He began the season as a cab driver and was promoted to the active roster on October 20.
He appeared in nine games, four of which he started at right tackle. He was released on September 3, 1962.
After retiring from professional football, he worked in furniture sales for twenty years before founding his own home-furnishing company, McCreary Modern, in 1986.
In 2013, he was inducted into the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame. McCreary has also been inducted into the Caldwell County Sports Hall of Fame.
