Her first single, “Lost in France,” was a Top 10 hit in the United Kingdom in 1976. After recording The World Starts Tonight, Tyler developed nodules on her vocal cords, necessitating surgery and months of rehab.

As a result of the ordeal, she developed an oddly husky voice, which proved to be a powerful instrument and drew the attention of writers/producers Ronnie Scott and Steve Wolfe, who went on to become her bosses.

Tyler’s single “It’s a Heartache” was a huge hit all over the world.
