Brent Venables’s Personal Life

Brent’s mother began looking for work after their divorce. She was responsible for three boys who were born to her. Brent was just three years old when he witnessed his mother’s plight.

Brent Venables’s Professional Career

Venables taught football at the University of Oklahoma for a long time, from 1999 to 2011. He was the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach there.

He previously worked as a coach for Stoops at Kansas State. The Stoops later took him to Oklahoma.

From 1996 to 1998, he coached linebackers before being named defensive run game coordinator in 1998, after serving as a graduate assistant from 1993 to 1995.

Venables was named head coach at a number of institutions, including Kansas, Miami, Kansas State, Clemson, and Texas Tech.

Finally, Venables accepted his prior role of defensive coordinating, which he retained until 2004. He committed to Clemson as a defensive coordinator after being promised a basic salary of $750,000 to $1 million.
