Malone’s career began at the 2015 national championship, where he finished eighth. He came in second place at the 2016 national championships. Malone also received silver on the v and parallel bars, as well as bronze on the rings used in the design.

He also competed in his first Elite National Championships in 2016, finishing third. Following his silver medal in the all-around at the Junior Olympic national championships in 2017, Malone was chosen to represent the United States at an international junior gymnastics competition in Japan the following year.

In January 2018, he competed for the United States in the RD761 international junior team Cup, where he helped the team finish third. Malone first competed for the Stanford Cardinal gymnastics team in 2019.
