Carl, on the other hand, resigned from his position at the National and Community Service after sexist, racist, anti-LGBT comments and comments about fellow veterans with PTSD became public.
Carl also served in the United States Navy from 2005 to 2012, and was twice deployed to Iraq under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
When troops were deployed to Iraq, he joined the US Navy. Carl was still in college at the time, so he dropped out of Sacred Heart University.
In addition, in 2005, he enlisted in the United States Navy to become a SEAL. He was also deployed to Iraq twice during Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a result, he was honorably discharged.
However, Carl’s right was revoked by the US Department of Defense after he left the military due to his role in the capture of a terrorist. Fortunately, the Department of Defense ruled in his favor, and he received his honorable discharge reinstated.
He has also written two books about his experiences in the United States Navy. In addition, in 2012, he self-published one of his books, Battle on the Home Front: A Navy SEAL’s Mission to Save the American Dream.
