However, he did not win any gold medals in major jiu-jitsu events. On April 15, 2011, he made his professional MMA debut, defeating Joseph Daily in a split decision at STFC 15.
He was the unbeaten champion, with a 9-0 record. Carlos joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship in May 2014.
