Chet Holmgren- Professional Career

As a freshman at Minnehaha Academy, Holmgren averaged 6.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. For the second year in a row, his team won the Class 2A state championship. In his sophomore season, Holmgren led his team to another Class 2A state championship, averaging 18.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.

After the season, he had success with his Amateur Athletic Union team Grassroots Sizzle at the Under Armour Association, winning the tournament’s most valuable player awards. As a result, he climbed to become one of the top-ranked players in the 2021 class, and NCAA Division I interest began to pour in.

Holmgren scored nine points, grabbed ten rebounds, and blocked 12 shots in a nationally broadcast triumph over Sierra Canyon School, which featured Bronny James, BJ Boston, and Zaire Williams. In his junior season, he led Minnehaha to a 25–3 record while averaging 14.3 points per game.

Holmgren won the Class 3A state championship as a senior, his fourth at Minneapolis, and was named Gatorade National Player of the Year, Naismith Prep Player of the Year, Morgan Wootten National Player of the Year, a McDonald’s All-American, and Minnesota Mr. Basketball.

In his collegiate debut, Holmgren had 14 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocks, and six assists in a 97–63 win over Dixie State. He became the first player in over a quarter-century to begin the season with at least 10 points, ten rebounds, five assists, and five blocks.

In 2021, Holmgren will represent the United States in the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup, which will be held in Latvia. Chet led the team to victory and was named tournament MVP after averaging 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game, which is a big accomplishment.
