Dylan Scanlon, the boy’s mother, was discovered dead at a residence on Limeside’s Elm Road.

“Claire Scanlon’s role as a parent was to love and protect her son from harm, but she took the ultimate step to take her young son

Dylan away from her ex-partner,” Nicola Carter, Senior Crown Prosecutor for North West CPS, said.

She first told her family that Dylan had been injured by a falling ladder,

and then she told a paramedic that he had fallen down some stairs.

The truth was that she had purposefully beaten and poisoned him.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Dylan’s family, particularly his grandfather, father, and brother, who all testified during the trial.

They must grieve his death while simultaneously processing how he died.
