Metropoulos is still alive and well. Hugh Hefner, the owner of his current home, Playboy Mansion, died in 2017 at the age of 91. Metropoulos said in a statement following Hefner’s death:
“Hugh Hefner was a visionary in business, a giant in media, and an iconic figure of pop culture whose legacy will leave a lasting impact. I was fortunate to have known him as a neighbor and friend, and my heartfelt condolences go out to his family.”
