David Sipress is a well-known cartoonist who debuted in The New Yorker in 1998 with a series of cartoons. Sipress was the first daily cartoonist hired by during the 2012 presidential election. The majority of his important works have appeared in publications such as Playboy, Funny Times, Washington Post, Parade, Boston Phoenix Time, Harper’s, Gastronomica, and Shambhala Sun.

David Sipress is the creator and host of “Conversations with Cartoonists,” a New Yorker feature that has become one of the most significant series of onstage conversations with many artists. While at The New Yorker, Sipress contributed to the creation of both fiction and nonfiction cartoons. He has also been working on his memoir, What’s So Funny, which was released on March 8, 2022.

He became perplexed about his position as a cartoonist after seeing his family’s critiques. For the first time, he put himself to the test in terms of his job and what he wanted to do with his life. He began working on the sketches while at Harvard and continued for six months after he left.

With thirty-six years of experience, his first action was published in the Boston Phoenix newspaper, where he continues to publish cartoons today.

He works so hard that his wife is sometimes taken aback when she sees the state of the house, which contains at least a 500-page tome. David majored in history, which is why he believes history is one of the most effective narrative tools for influencing people of all kinds.

Furthermore, David believes that history is the ideal approach for him to formulate his views, write properly, and advance his profession with the support of historians.

David sees himself as one of the influential historians who enjoys working on cartoons, with most of his coworkers agreeing that his cartoons are not just hilarious, but also “about something.” He is constantly attempting to create cartoons that can be linked to any direct or indirect roots in our past.
