Deana Carter is a female model.  Deana was born into a musical family, since her father, Fred Carter Jr., was a well-known studio musician, composer, and songwriter.

Deana began working at the hospital after receiving her degree, but her passion for music compelled her to try again in 1989, and for that purpose, she learned to play the guitar and began writing and composing her own songs.

Deana got her big break in 1994 when Willie Nelson heard her demo tapes and requested her to play at Farm Aid VII. The same demo piqued Capitol Records’ interest, and she was signed the next year.

The first version of Carter’s debut album, “Did I Shave My Legs for This?” (1995), was released in the UK for Patriot Records; however, the label was short-lived, and after they folded, Carter re-released the album for the US market, this time for Capitol Records, and with a nearly entirely different set of songs.

The album was certified five-times platinum and produced three successful singles: “Strawberry Wine” (1996), “We Danced Anyway” (1996), and “How Do I Get There” (1997).

When it was released, the former immediately soared to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart, and it also received the Country Music Association Award for Single of the Year.

Deana’s rendition of “Once Upon a December” was included on the soundtrack of the 20th Century Fox animated film “Anastasia” (1997).

Her subsequent albums, while well-received, did not achieve the same level of popularity or sales as her debut. “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” was certified gold in 1998, and the album’s hits include “Absence of the Heart” (1998) and “Angels Working Overtime” (1999); the first reached the Top 20 Hot Country Singles, while the latter reached the Top 40. Carter’s father wrote the title track.

Carter departed Capitol Records after her second album and released her third album, “Father Christmas” (2001), for Rounder Records. However, she changed labels again, this time for Arista Nashville, where she recorded her fourth studio album, “I’m Just a Girl” (2003).
