Weight was selected by the New York Rangers as the 34th overall
pick in the 1990 NHL draft, and he played his first full season with the team in 1992.
Weight was moved to the Edmonton Oilers after his debut season,
and his reputation as a playmaker developed as he guided them to five playoff appearances.
Weight spent eight and a half seasons with the Oilers before being traded to the St. Louis Blues,
where he spent three seasons.
The Blues eventually traded him to the Carolina Hurricanes,
where he helped the team win the Stanley Cup in 2006, defeating his old team, the Edmonton Oilers.
Following this historic victory, Weight signed as a free agency with the St. Louis Blues,
where he played his 1,000th game against the Edmonton Oilers in 2007.
