which, like so many other things that happen to women, is largely a pain in the a$$. But it’s not so horrible compared to being 26 and wild and waiting for some man to call. I can get through cancer if I can survive 39 breakups in 21 days.”

Erin Blakemore, a journalist, wrote of Elizabeth’s death:

“It’s tough to express Elizabeth Wurtzel’s significance in the 1990s. She was unabashed, real, and truthful. She represented a very distinct type of GenX femininity, confession, and wrath.”
