Frank Herzog- Biography

Frank Herzog is a well-known American broadcaster who was hired as the Washington Redskins’ radio play-by-play announcer. He was able to acclimate himself in a couple of minor cinema roles. State of Play (2009), starring Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck, was one of the films on which he worked.

Frank Herzog worked for several well-known television stations, including WTOP, WJLA, and WUSA. Frank also worked on CBS, where he called games for the Washington Bullets, Maryland Terrapins basketball, and college football and basketball. In March 2010, he retired from his position at WTOP radio.

Frank was born in 1945 in Denver, Colorado, and now resides in Leland, North Carolina. He had been a tremendous sports enthusiast since he was a child, and he was particularly fond of the Denver Broncos and the Triple-A baseball team Denver Bears.

He was a tremendous basketball lover, and his passion for the game led him to play for his high school team. He had some acquaintances who worked at the campus radio station when he was younger.

Since then, he has astounded many of his friends with his newfound aptitude (despite having no prior experience). Later, he began doing activities that made him happy while maintaining a long-term broadcasting profession.

Frank Herzog met Sharon in Vietnam, where he finished his Air Force tour. They married in 1969 and have been together ever since, living happily with their family. Frank Herzog- Professional Career

Frank Herzog earned his first radio job while attending Air Force Tech School, working as a part-time employee at KGKL in San Angelo, Texas.

On Sunday afternoons, he began listening to Dallas Cowboys radio. He finished his tour with the Air Force after two years in Vietnam. Around the 1970s, he began working for a number of radio stations in the Washington, DC region.

He earned his first break in 1976, when he was hired as a play-by-play commentator for the NBA’s Washington Bullets. At the time, the Bullets were in a championship series versus the Seattle Supersonics, and Frank was able to call a riveting battle all the way to game 7.

Later that year, Herzog was hired to do play-by-play for Redskins radio station WMAL alongside two other former Redskins, Hall of Fame Quarterback Sonny Jurgensen and Hall of Fame Linebacker Sam Huff.
