Richrath was the band’s principal guitarist and one of its key songwriters.

He contributed to many of the band’s biggest singles, such as “Take It on the Run,” “Time for Me to Fly,” and “Keep On Loving You.”

Richrath quit REO Speedwagon to pursue a solo career in 1989.

In 1992, he released his self-titled album, which gained critical acclaim but failed to chart.

Throughout his career, Richrath has worked with a variety of musicians, including Eddie Money and Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon.

As a member of REO Speedwagon, Richrath was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

On September 13, 2015, he died at the age of 65.
