Gladys Berejiklian is the daughter of Krikor and Arsha Berejiklian.
Gladys Berejiklian’s parents are Armenian, and she was born in Sydney’s
Manly Hospital as the oldest of three daughters to Krikor (1932-2022) and Arsha.
Her father was born in Aleppo, Syria, where she still has relatives, and during the 1915 Armenian genocide,
Turkish forces orphaned her grandparents.
Her mother was born in Jerusalem, the capital city of Mandatory Palestine.
Berejiklian could only speak Armenian until acquiring English at the age of five.
She is still fluent in Armenian. She remained involved in the Armenian-Australian community and served on the board of the organization.
