Tumbat began mountain climbing at the age of 17 in the METU’s Mountaineering & Winter Sports Club.

She initially visited Nepal in 2004 to trek and collect data for my Ph.D. research on risk marketing and risk consuming.
Only twelve women in the world have made the ascent to the “Eight Summits” as of now.
Her ambition is to become the first Turk and Turkish woman to scale the “Eight Summits.”
She completed the McKinley (6,194 meters), Aconcagua (6,959 meters), Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters), Elbrus (5,642 meters), and Carstensz Pyramid (4,884 meters).
She attempted to climb Mount Everest in April 2014 but failed since the ascent to the summit was officially halted due to a huge avalanche.
On May 21, 2018, she made a second attempt and became the first Turkish woman to climb Mount Everest from the Nepal side.
She also taught at the University of Utah, American University in Beirut, Universite de Nice-Sophia Antipolis in France, University of Innsbruck in Austria, and other institutions.
