Harriet Hageman’s Professional Career

Harriet began her professional career as a clerk for the Honorable James E. Barrett. James E. Barrett is a United States Court of Appeals judge for the Tenth Judicial Circuit.

Harriet is currently employed as a registered legal practitioner. Harriet has worked on a variety of water and natural resource issues, including the defense of Wyoming’s “open range” law, the protection of grazing rights on BLM and private lands, Nebraska v. Wyoming; the “roadless litigation,” challenges to the Fish and Wildlife Service’s management and recovery of the Canadian gray wolf and other species, and many others.

She represents herself as a member of numerous irrigation districts throughout the state, suggesting irrigation-related issues as well as the influence of land usage and its modifications.

Harriet’s profession is primarily focused on the link between groundwater and surface water, including groundwater analysis and implementation in Nebraska.

She was one of the Nebraska Ground Water Management and Protection Act’s attorneys. She also collaborates with local Natural Resource Districts to address the effects of land use, the Endangered Species Act, and the Republican River Compact.
