In 1919, he witnessed the lynching of Will Brown during the Omaha racial riot, an event that inspired his understanding of bigotry in America.
Fonda attended the University of Minnesota as a journalism major, but he did not complete his degree.

Henry Fonda- Professional Career
Henry Fonda began his theater career at the Omaha Community Playhouse when he was 20 years old.
He appeared in series like “You and I” and “Merton of the Cinema” there.
Fonda subsequently opted to relocate to the East Coast, where he continued to play on stage and joined the University Players, a summer stock group based in Massachusetts.
After appearing in “The Jest,” he left the Players in 1932 and relocated to New York City.
Fonda shared a room with fellow actor and future Movie star James Stewart.
Fonda returned to cinema in 1955, after a long absence, to act in the film adaptation of “Mister Roberts,” which he had previously starred in on Broadway.
Following that, he appeared in King Vidor’s adaptation of Tolstoy’s masterpiece “War and Peace,” as well as Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Wrong Man.”
Fonda delivered one of his most famous performances in Sidney Lumet’s courtroom drama “12 Angry Men,” which he also produced, in 1957.
Following that, he appeared in “The Tin Star,” “Stage Struck,” “Warlock,” and “The Man Who Understood Women.”
Fonda appeared in films such as “Advise & Consent,” “The Longest Day,” “How the West Was Won,” “Spencer’s Mountain,” “The Best Man,” and “Fail Safe” in the first half of the 1960s.
