Mark Drakeford’s biographical information

Mark grew up in West Wales before moving to Cardiff more than 30 years ago.

He now lives in Cardiff’s Pontcanna district.

He was a former probation officer, youth justice worker, and Barnardos project director in Ely and Caerau before becoming a professor of Social Policy and Applied Social Sciences at Cardiff University.

Mark used to teach at Swansea University.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Mark was a Labour councilor on South Glamorgan County Council, focusing on educational issues, particularly Welsh-medium instruction.
