In January 1983, she was born in Newmarket, Suffolk. Francesca began riding racehorses at the age of twelve, under the tutelage of her father, Luca, a top flat-racing trainer in the UK who has prepared two Epsom Derby winners.
She worked on horseback safaris in Argentina and Kenya after graduating from an Oxfordshire boarding school.
She then attended Bristol University to study languages.
After being tasked with driving two of her father’s racehorses to the Melbourne Cup, Francesca was interviewed by Australian television.
Because of her talent in front of the camera, she began commentating for Australia’s Channel 7 during the Melbourne Cup. Soon after, CNN hired her to assist with race coverage.
