Jack Leiter’s Professional Career
Jack began playing baseball at a young age and grew up seeing his father and uncle play professionally. He began playing baseball for his high school squad, where he played alongside Anthony Volpe.
In July 2018, he was a member of 2018 Under Armour All-America Baseball Game, and in December of that year, he was a member of the USA Baseball 18U National Team in Panama City.
Jack was considered a high prospect for the 2019 Major League Baseball draft after becoming a senior in 2019, however, due to his great commitment to playing for Vanderbilt University, he did not get the chance to play in the MLB until the 20th round by the New York Yankees.
On February 18, 2020, he made his college debut, pitching five no-hit innings to help his team beat the University of South Alabama.
Due to the epidemic, Jack’s participation in the next college baseball season was canceled. In 2021, he returned as a starter, pitching a no-hitter against South Carolina on March 20, 2021, with 16 strikeouts, followed by seven no-hitters against Missouri.
Even though his team lost the game due to a home run, Jack wowed everyone with an outstanding start in the College World Series in June 2021, which made his father pleased.
