Jeannie Camtu Mai, the eldest child of her parents, was born on January 4, 1979, in San Jose, California.

Her two younger brothers, Daniel and Dennis, raised her in California.

She grew up practicing her native religion, Buddhism, but later converted to Christianity.

She graduated from Milpitas High School and later earned a degree in Communication from De Anza College.

Due to her large family, the rising star began working at a young age; by the age of 16, Mai was already going for interviews and experimenting with makeup kits belonging to her mother, a local celebrity.

Jeannie Mai: Professional Career

Mai got her first job as a make-up artist with MAC Cosmetics when she was 18 years old and living in San Jose, California.

She gradually advanced in her career until she was deemed competent enough to work for celebrities.

Later, she worked as a celebrity makeup artist for MTV’s Total Request Live, as well as for Good Day Sacramento and KCAL Los Angeles.

She landed a job co-hosting Stir on the International Channel in 2003 after auditioning for several positions.

She was then hired to host her own music countdown show on the California Music Channel.

Later, she was hired as an entertainment producer and reporter for WB’s The Daily Mixx.

Her first primetime hosting gig was on Character Fantasy, which aired on the USA Network in 2005.

When she eventually relocated to Los Angeles, she began hosting entertainment news and fashion segments on networks such as NBC, E!, Lifetime, and TLC.

TLC’s 10 Years Younger eventually offered her a position on their beauty team.

Jeannie Mai had a memorable year in 2008, hosting not only TLC’s Miss America Reality Check but also Where’s Your Style and the Makeover Special Dude.

The same year, Mai was named spokesperson for the cosmetics brand Never Accept Ordinary.

In 2009, she became the host of the Style Network’s fashion makeover show, How Do I Look, and on weekends, she appeared on NBC’s Extra TV as a correspondent and weekend host.

She hosted the Miss Universe pageant in 2011 and also worked as a fashion consultant for the NBC weight-loss competition The Biggest Loser.

Mai appeared as a guest judge on the first season of Asia’s Next Top Model in 2012.

Jeannie has hosted several shows since 2014, including Style Pop on the Style Network, The Real on FOX, and Steampunk’d on GSN.

Jeannie Mai: Relationship Status

For Jeannie Mai and her husband, Freddy Harteis, October 2017 was not a happy month.

Their decision to end their ten-year marriage was made public, with irreconcilable differences on the issue of having children cited in the divorce papers.

Jeannie had always been against having children, and she made that clear from the beginning of their relationship, even before marriage.

Freddy, on the other hand, had a change of heart as he grew older.

Divorce, in other words, was unavoidable.
