He was a three-year starter for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in collegiate baseball, helping them to NCAA Regional berths in 2005 and 2007.

He debuted for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Minnesota Twins in May 2010 and was a regular for the rest of the season.
