Josh Giddey’s Childhood and Education
Josh Giddey was born in Australia on October 10, 2002. He attended St Kevin’s College in Melbourne before joining the NBA Global Academy and becoming one of the game’s rising stars at such a young age.
He surged for an average of 20 points, 8.3 rebounds, and six assists per game at the Australian Under-18 Championships in April 2019.
During the NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago the following month, he participated in Basketball Without Borders and was named camp all-star.
Warrick, Giddey’s father, was a basketball professional player who played for many years and was a member of the Melbourne Tigers in Australia.
His mother, Kim, was a former Women’s National Basketball League player who played for the Tigers.

Giddey was deemed eligible to participate in the 2021 NBA draft on April 27, 2021, as a member of the NBA draft lottery.
Later, on July 29th, he was drafted as the sixth overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder, and on August 8th, he signed a contract with Thunder, but that same day, he suffered an ankle injury while playing in his NBA Summer League debut, and he was ruled out for the rest of the competition as a precautionary measure.
On October 20, 2021, he made his NBA debut with the Thunder, scoring four points, grabbing ten rebounds, and dishing out three assists in a 107-86 loss to the Utah Jazz.
