June’s death, however, went undetected until her daughter St. Claire contacted Accu Weather and conveyed the news of her mother’s death late last month.

Her daughter and other family members are still alive.

Steve Cichon, a Buffalo-area historian, said a few words about her.

“She wasn’t in Buffalo long, but she created Buffalo broadcasting history as the first woman of color to lead a TV newscast here.”
