Kento, along with three other badminton players and drivers, hired a van on the way to the administrative capital of Putrajaya and was hit by a 30-tonne truck at 4:40 a.m.

He sustained the injury just after winning his first race of the season, the Malaysia Masters. The driver, Bavan a/l Nageswarau, was killed in the incident at about 4:45 a.m.

According to the local fire and rescue department, the van collided with a 30-tonne truck that was traveling slowly.

Furthermore, the director of the Rescue Department, Norazam Khamis, stated that “the four passengers (who incurred minor injuries) were rushed to the Putrajaya Hospital for treatment.”

The Malaysian sports minister also told reporters,

“It’s very awful, especially when it involves a badminton icon like Momota,” he said after visiting the hospital where they were transported.

According to authorities in the area, Momota suffered injuries to his face and a broken nose when the van bringing him to the airport collapsed.

I hope Mimota recovers quickly and is ready for this year’s Tokyo Olympics, which he has been training hard for.
