Who is Kulsoom Nawaz?

Kulsoom Nawaz (born March 29, 1950) is Pakistan’s first lady, a politician, and a member of the National Assembly since September 2017. Kulsoom Nawaz was admitted to London Hospital on June 14, 2018, due to cardiac unrest (Thursday).

Her health had deteriorated, so she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the same day. Because the former first lady has lost consciousness.

Her husband, Nawaz, and their children are with her in the hospital. In addition, Kulsoom’s daughter Maryam has asked Pakistanis to pray for her mother’s health.

Kulsoom Nawaz was born on March 29, 1950, in Lahore, Pakistan.

Furthermore, Hafiz Butt (father) was a physician by profession. Kulsoom has two sisters and one brother. She had completed her high school education at Islamia College.

She then enrolled in Forman Christian College in Lahore. Kulsoom later received her master’s degree in Urdu from the University of Punjab. She is Muslim and of South Asian descent.

She was raised in Lahore by a Kashmiri family.

Nawaz became Pakistan’s First Lady in 1990. Furthermore, her husband was elected Prime Minister with Islami Jamhoori Ittehad.

After completing his term as Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1993, he joined the Pakistan Muslim League. He was elected Prime Minister of Pakistan twice, in 1997 and 2013.

However, due to the Panama Papers case, the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified Nawaz from the position.

Kulsoom was elected president of the Pakistan Muslim League in 1999 and served in that position until 2002.

She was arrested by army cops in her hometown in October 1999 and placed under house arrest with her family. General Pervez Musharraf was Prime Minister at the time.
