An American sports executive who was partly responsible for the founding of the American Football League, Major League Soccer, and World Championship Tennis. He is a Hall of Famer in all three sports and is the namesake of the NFL’s Lamar Hunt Trophy, given to the winner of the American Football Conference each year. Lamar Hunt was born on August 2, 1932, in El Dorado, AR.
He founded the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and hired the team’s first head coach, Hank Stram. He grew up in Dallas, Texas.
He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Southern Methodist University and was named Kappa Sigma’s Man of the Year in 1972.
