Case of Ahmaud Arbery
Greg McMichael, his son, Travis McMichael, and William “Roddie” Bryan are on trial for the death of Arbery, a 25-year-old man. Arbery was a black jogger who was slain on February 23, 2020, after being approached by three white guys. The males are also charged with nine felonies, including murder.
Hogue has been defending her client’s case. In her arguments, she referred to Arbery as a “regular nightly intruder.” According to the Associated Press, the defense attorney stated that the three men were attempting to stop the burglaries in their neighborhood.
They did it in self-defense, i.e., they killed Arbery. They are suspected of murdering Arbery with a 12-gauge shotgun while he was fleeing them.
Arguments for Conclusion
In her closing remarks, She stated that Arbery came to the neighborhood with the aim of committing burglaries, and her clients sought to respond in the way they thought was right at the time to protect themselves. They did so, and in self-defense confronted the man.
She also stated that turning Ahmaud Arbery after knowing his goal and the choices he took does not reflect the truth of what brought him to Satilla Shored in Khaki shorts and no socks to cover his long and dirty toes. Laura claimed that Arbery’s decision to reach for the gun and give the idea that he was reaching for the gun at the time led to his death.
She claimed that on February 23rd, there were two sets of decision-makers. This catastrophe was caused by more than just McMichael’s decisions. No one but Ahmaud Arbery decided to approach for the pistol or surely gave the impression of reaching for the handgun, and no one but Ahmaud Arbery decided not to stop and was rolled by Travis’ truck next him.
Hogue had earlier in the trial stated that Arbery had a “promising future.” She stated that knowing he may have a bright future would allow him to turn himself around because we all know that the adolescent years are full of possibilities, but his early 20s stage lead him to make the wrong choice in the wrong path. Hogue went on to say that Arbery was not a “innocent victim.”
Laura and Frank are a loving married couple who run a criminal defense law company together. Her spouse, Frank, is 65 years old and from Indiana. They both graduated from Mercer University in 1991. However, there is no information accessible on whether or whether the couple has children.
