One of his most recognized projects was the continuous development of Poundbury, the urban extension to Dorchester. Leon Krier was born on April 7, 1946, in Luxembourg. He was born in the same country as photographer Edward Steichen. He only studied architecture for one year at the University of Stuttgart in Germany before dropping out to work in the London firm of James Stirling. He then taught for 20 years at the Architectural Association and the Royal College of Art, refusing to build partly out of his protest of Modernism.
