Lisa also performed at one of the most prominent dance clubs, the Fun House, where she was noticed by Alex “Spanador” Mosely and Mike Hughes, and her professional musical career began soon after.

Mosely was the guitarist/bassist, and Hugher was the drummer and keyboardist, in a band named Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. The band’s debut album, “Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam With Full Force,” was released in

1985 by Columbia Records and was a huge success, earning platinum status in the US and reaching No. 16 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list, adding significantly to Lisa’s net worth.

In the same year, she released the track “I Wonder If I Take You Home,” which went gold and topped Billboard’s Hot Dance/Disco chart.

This inspired the band to continue working together, and two years later, “Spanish Fly” was released, earning platinum in the United States and gold in Canada.
