He was a professional hockey player prior to entering the broadcasting industry. Mark was a hockey player who played for the Colorado Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League.

He has also played for the Briançon Diables Rouges, the American Hockey League, and the Syracuse Crunch. Mark spent two seasons in the BCHL with the Nanaimo Clippers before becoming a professional athlete.

While analyzing hockey for Altitude Sports, he frequently wears a three-piece suit. Mark also has suits in various colors, such as orange, blue checked, Navy blue, Dynamite suite, and so on.
