Stuart followed Johnny Cash to Memphis in 1985 and appeared on the Class of ’55 record, which also featured Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

After this year, he released a self-titled album on the label, which yielded a Top 20 hit on the Billboard country charts in the song “Arlene”.

His first cover story was in a Mid-South magazine article titled “Nashville’s New Hopes” in 1986.

Marty’s marriage to Cindy Cash resulted in divorce in 1988, prompting Stuart to return to Mississippi.

As Roland White invites Stuart to rejoin his band as their fiddler, Stuart gains the confidence to attempt again as a singer.
