From 1981 until 1991, he achieved drag race feats with the Funny Car, winning 12 of the 13 races in which he competed. He was the first Funny Car driver to hit 280 mph in 1987.

He won three races in the top fuel category in 1995. His highest time elapsed in his career was 4.502 seconds. His top speed was 331.61 mph.

He was named Car Craft Top Fuel Driver of the Year in 1999. He had a brief schedule run in 2000, but he signed with the New York Yankees in 2001.

When I read it, I thought to myself, ‘You know what? I believe this has a strong possibility of succeeding.’
