Molly Knight claims she had only $300 in her pocket when she decided to go to New York City.

Along with her bartending license and aspirations to become an author.

After years of struggle in which she had to wait for multiple tables and do several bartending jobs in lower Manhattan to make ends meet.

She had the notion of writing music reviews for an indie rock magazine. Who back then provided $5 for a review?

Following that, she was hired as an intern at FHM and eventually promoted to editorial assistant.
