Monifah Shelton: Birth, & Parents

Shelton was born on September 15, 1998, and lived in Chicago at the time she became a well-known personality.

Because of how she rose to fame, little is known about her or her family. It is widely known that she worked at McDonald’s for a year prior to the 2017 incident.

Monifah Shelton: An Incident

The tragedy occurred on September 8, 2017, seven days before Shelton’s birthday. Kenneka Jenkins, Irene Roberts, and Monifah Shelton decided to go out, and their destination was a party at the Crowne Plaza O’Hare, where Roberts worked.

Jenkins, who also goes by the surname Martins, was missing from the party around 4 a.m. After a thorough search, the other two decided to contact Kenneka’s mother, Teresa Martins, and inform her of their inability to locate her.

Teresa rushed to the hotel, arriving at 5 a.m., and pleading with the hotel staff to show her the surveillance tapes.

The hotel was unable to do so and insisted that in the absence of a missing person’s report from the police, they would be unable to examine the tapes and determine what had happened to Teresa’s daughter.

Thus began the struggle to obtain one from the police, who insisted that she had not been missing for that long to warrant one. By the time they finally budge, it was too late, and Kenneka Martins had died.

The tapes revealed that she had found her way into a freezer despite being clearly out of her mind.

Her body was discovered on the 10th, two days after she was last seen alive, having died of hypothermia.

Monifah Shelton had flooded her Facebook page with announcements about her missing friend and pleaded with the public to help with the search before the body was discovered.

Shelton expressed her grief on her Facebook and Instagram accounts after the body was discovered.

Monifah Shelton: A Suicidal person

A number of theories have emerged in the aftermath of Kenneka Martin’s death. Many people believed she was the victim of organ harvesters, with some even suggesting that her friends may have played a role in her death.

The police disproved all of these theories. Her mother also filed a lawsuit against the hotel, the hotel’s security company, and the restaurant that rented the freezer.

She sued them for $50 million on the basis of negligence. Monifah Shelton did not commit suicide, contrary to some false reports.
