He began working for Lorimar Television as a development executive in 1985, rising to president in 1990.

In the summer of 1993, he also became the CEO of Warner Bros.

Television, where he oversaw the production of several TV shows that became popular around the world, including “ER” and “Friends.”

Leslie left Lorimar in 1995 to become president of CBS Entertainment, where he later rose to become chairman and CEO in 2003.

He received over $120 million in total remuneration in 2012 and 2013, making him the second highest-paid director during those two years, while in 2017 he became the highest-paid CEO, receiving $68.4 million in remuneration.

Leslie was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 2013, and he remained CBS chairman until September 9, 2018, when he resigned following allegations of sexual assault – he was reportedly negotiating a $100 million deal at the time.
